The IEEE First International Conference on Condition Assessment Techniques in Electrical Systems (IEEE CATCON2013) [IEEE Conference No. 31459], sponsored by the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS) and organized by Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society Chapter of IEEE Kolkata Section will be held from December 06 to 08, 2013, in Kolkata India.
This will be the flagship event of the chapter, which is in line with the present day requirements in the global scenario of various condition assessment techniques for a variety of electrical systems. Its goal is to provide a broad coverage and dissemination of foundational research in condition monitoring and assessment among researchers, academics, industry and practitioners.
The technical program of IEEE CATCON2013 will consist of tutorials, invited talks, posters, and presentations. Research papers describing original work on theories, methodologies, abstractions, algorithms, industry applications and case studies are invited.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology. IEEE is organized into 39 societies and 5 technical councils representing the wide range of technical interests.
DEIS is the Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society whose field of interest includes the study and application of dielectrics from the molecular level, through nano-structured materials, to insulation systems in industrial, commercial, and power system equipment, to emerging applications such as those at high power levels and in biological and other small-scale systems. DEIS supports the entire scope of this field from advancing the basic science, to enhancing the ability of practicing engineers to use emerging dielectric materials, to the development of standards for the prudent application of existing and new insulation systems.
IEEE DEIS Kolkata Chapter, the first of its kind in India, has been formed on 14th May 2012.
Kolkata, or Calcutta is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located on the east bank of the Hooghly river, it is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India. As of 2011, it is the third-most populous metropolitan area in India. It was the commercial capital of Eastern India was earlier known as Calcutta as it was pronounced since the British rule and has changed to Kolkata officially in 2001.
Kolkata is a cosmopolitan city where people, technology and ideas have blended together with the socio-political culture to give the city a new shape. The city is full of historical monuments and palaces and is therefore also called The City of Palaces.
